Mirror Lands

A bright world appears
Beyond the looking glass,
From where the dreamer stands.

It is dark here,
Dark as midnight,
While the world beyond the mirror
Is bright,
Alive with luminescence,
Alive with life.

The dark grey-blue world
Surrounding the sleeper
Is cold,
Empty,
And desolate.

Across this landscape,
Great trees rise
Like twisted skeletons,
Bent and bowing
Beneath a blackened sky.

The dreamer arrived here
By sleepwalking
Between worlds,
Stepping through
A wardrobe mirror
Before falling
Upon the ashen soil
On the other side.

Where they awoke,
Disorientated,
Lost,
Alone.

This mirror world
Has claimed them as its own.
They must find their way now
Through these unfamiliar lands.

For the bright world
Beyond the mirror,
That they just left,
Was never truly their own.
